draw back of HDR

After going through all the HDR photo (most of it I have taken at Sandakan). I found out a few of the draw back below.

1) If you have taken bracket shots handheld, most probably it will cause some BLUR problem because of shifted image.

2) Using Tone map on Potrait shots is actually quite difficult to get a decent HDR image because it will make the skin looks "dirty", but it will be "stunning" on landscape images.

3) Because of HDR, some how the photographer will take less time to adjust all the angle and shoot creatively. This actually make photographer skill set some how restricted.

Nonethless HDR is actually more to post processing skill, so when we are taking photo, we should try to find a good angle and creative way to shoot the best image before post process it.

After trying a few more times on HDR merging the images, finally I am able to get a more decent sky.   If you compare to the previous post, the HDR is not that decent compare to this one. While doing HDR, if you spend sometime fine tuning the images, it can be very stunning, Of course if you don not want too much hassle, predefined settings will do

My Sandakan Trip Photoshoot

HDR another reason to have it

If you are capturing an image while facing the sunlight, and your face is actually under the sunlight shadow, perhaps HDR can really save you alot of hassle, and make the picture comes to alive. Just take 3 different shots with bracketed exposure, everything will be done automatically. After you merge it, you can have different settings to adjust the image "feel". but usally 3 exposures can go for more stunning sureal setting. it has to be on natural mode.
